SHARDS OF JEWELLED DREAMS
That glory might, left weak, to rust.
It's gone again, from light to grey,
Once raiment bright, now bleak in waste.
It's gone again, lain somewhere lost,
That thing once prized, now sideways tossed.
It's gone again, assumed to last,
Once great and true, now cursed to pass.
It's gone again, that thing once blessed,
It's waned, it's left, it's laid to rest.
It's gone again, that font of hope,
Once glowed, ashine, now gone, eloped!
It's gone again, it faded fast,
That hope eternal, which proved just past.
It's gone again, diminished, complete,
Now shards of jewelled dreams beneath my feet.
