IN TEMPEST THROES
1. In tempest throes, in times a-weary,
when light and hope abound too dreary.
In life's long lessons, tossed to and fro,
when all about me bubbles in woe.
2. There I stand, as His voice beckons,
with but a word, the burden lessens.
With but a whisper, all worries cease,
when my Lord, in troubles, speaks.
3. But still, the waves and winds a-growl.
the dark storm weathers about me howl.
The light, to night, in darkness turns.
For sun kissed days my being yearns.
4. So best I look beyond the cloud,
beyond that swirling crowded melt.
This hour, this minute, I can't succumb,
for each morning brings a new days sun.
5. And as I wait, for weathers new,
I look, and lo, behold, skies turn blue.
From greys which once did so surround me,
again, God's light is all around me.
6. It's faith, a taste, so sweet, God founded.
No time to waste in storms, grounded.
No floundered ship, my sails shall raise,
and I shall ride atop life's waves.
7. I know, I'm sure, with all life's teaching,
that when those deepest depths I'm reaching,
that when I'm landed, aground, and weak,
from up above, a voice shall speak.
8. From thickest stormy clouds a-cover,
when darkness does so fully smother,
when life seems but wasted and messy,
my Lord shall come, and He shall bless me!
9. So I thank my faith, that weapon sharpened.
And men of old, to whom I hearkened.
And angels, whose harps, string my song.
All whom told me, in faith, I'm strong.
10. And on such fluttered angels wings,
on God's sweet breath, I hear them sing.
In Heaven, angel song is heard,
the melody, God's precious word.
11. So storming clouds, away, away,
I know you'll break, if not today.
And when I stray within darks reaches,
I'm rescued by the LOVE, my Lord beseeches.
12. So a warrior, I stand, just slightly battered.
But still, from every scar of battle,
I know what matters, my faiths intact,
and from any storm, God will bring me back.
